If you have a bad back - does it impact your choice of work?

I made a thread in work - I work on inpatient psychiatric and there are weekly assaults, mainly against our nursing colleagues.
this week I got injured (indirectly, - think if someone threw something and it hit someone).
im a bit bruised but will be okay, however it’s really shaken me up.
i have a bad back - lower spine compression- and am careful to avoid activities that may aggravate it. I can be bed ridden for weeks if it goes.
im feeling a bit anxious and vulnerable because of my back (and also because the violence is scary).
if I changed work, it would mean a massive pay cut - £65k to around £40.
what price for safety?
feeling confused

You only have one back @Twoshoesnewshoes . I would do whatever I could to keep it at the level it is now, or better obviously if only, and not risk it getting any worse Flowers

Yes I changed job entirely.
