As seen in hospital chronic alcohol use can lead to deficiency in vitamin B, folic acid, and iron which can cause these symptoms. I hope they help you solve this.

Thank u glonurse... If u think one way or other Id love to hear ur views. As i say, visiting gp next week but would love to get opinions. It won't stop me going to gp, at all, but any opinions are welcome. I'm concerned if honest, mainly due to pain in tongue... But will find out.

I had a sore patch on my tongue which looked like an ulcer, I went to the dentist not the gp. I did get referred to be seen by the consultant but they thought it wasn’t bad enough to be seen so the dentist referred me to a private dental surgeon who took a biopsy of it. It was clear of anything serious which was a relief as I used to smoke so I was worried

See a dentist not a GP

I had oral cancer last year under my tongue having visited the dentist who was hopeless with it all, but should have referred me.

Basically, I had ulcers under my left hand side of the tongue and I paid for a private consultation whereby I was told I needed to have a biopsy. Biopsy came back with severe dysplasia which is pre cancerous plus small squamous cell carcinoma. I too had been a smoker in my youth and enjoyed wine.

I had surgery to remove the area in September which was successful with no further treatment necessary but will now need to be checked every 3 months for the next 5 years. I view myself as lucky and I don't drink any alcohol any more.

You must see your GP and or dentist and I would imagine they will give you an immediate referral. It all may be fine or you may need treatment.
Good luck with it.

My DM has mouth cancer. Go to Dentist. Ask about treatment but also ask to be referred to dental hospital for a cancer check - it’s a biopsy. Please don’t wait. There is also a mouth cancer charity which is a resource for questions etc.
