Clarithromycin and vomiting

I was prescribed two weeks worth of Clarithromycin on Friday started taking them on Saturday morning and felt quite sick after the first one. All subsequent ones I’ve taken I’ve vomited about half an hour after taking them. I’m on anti sickness tablets too which usually stop it but for some reason this time they don’t want to stay down.

Is it likely to improve? I don’t want to be sick daily for two weeks.

Are you eating with them?

i’d have phoned the gp first thing this morning to ask. youve left it a bit late to contact them now. they’ll be closing soon.

You need to take them with food. If you feel sick then drink some water.

When I am on them I feel nauseous on and off and also wake up with a funny taste in my mouth.

I’ve been taking them after food and with a full glass of water. I will contact my GP tomorrow to see if they can change to something else.

My DS had clarithromycin and it made him horribly sick. He ended up on an extended hospital stay as he couldn’t stomach the meds needed to leave so had to have them IV. I’d say food will help. It’s not nice stuff at all.
