Hi everyone

I just wanted to get a bit of advice or see if anyone else has experienced this.

I'm 42, haven't had children and still having periods. My periods have always been pretty regular but heavy and clots. I've been seen by the hospital but nothing taken seriously.

For about 6 months now a day after my period has finished, I lose thick black discharge (sorry to be tmi). I've lost brown discharge before but this is different, it's literally jet black. I've heard that brown discharge can be "old blood" but this isn't it. I get some cramping with it too and it last.

I'm aware I'm heading for perimenopause but I just wanted to see if anyone else experiences this.

Thank you for reading xx

I've always taken the view that any notable changes with my period need to be run by a doctor, and I've been lucky in that doctors have always taken them seriously.

I'm also aware that black blood when passed in stool needs to be checked out urgently so on that basis of these two points I think you should see your GP
