Never ending cold - anyone else?

Early to mid January I started with a cough. For a week I had a chesty cough, the following week I thought it was easing. The next week I started with a sore throat and swollen glands and hoarse voice and major congestion. I'm now on week five and the cough is back, my throat is tickly and my chest feels sore and I have a runny nose.
Ive been to the doctors twice - the first time I was prescribed antibiotics for a chest infection but I knew I didn't have one so did not take them. I've been back since and GP has said post nasal drip is probably causing it and I've been referred for a chest x ray.

Has anyone else had this seemingly non stop cold that just won't go and produces new symptoms when you think it's about to go?

I am on week 6. I came down with a cold cough and hoarse voice the week before Christmas which went quite quickly but left me with a cough and croaky voice. The cough lingered and then a week and a half ago I came down with another cold and I was really unwell for a couple of days. Although I’m feeling a bit better now I still have this terrible cough and a mild cold. Some days I feel ok then the next day I feel awful as if I’m getting worse. Im exhausted, I can’t sleep and I’m so fed up of being sick I really wish it would just go away.

That's pretty much how I am, feeling a little better one day then wiped out the next. I'm sick of coughing it's gone from a chesty productive cough to a dry tickly cough where I don't really have anything to cough up. I think my throat is still sore from all the coughing and my chest feels raw from it too.

I've been back to the doctors because I feel rotten and they have said a chest infection even though my chest sounds clear apart from some coarseness sounds on one side.
I feel so achy and tired, I keep feeling clammy and sweaty. I have zero energy and I'm so fed up of feelinf crap now. I started to feel worse over the weekend and was going to call OOH but decided to wait until my surgery was open today.
