Ended up in hospital this time last year, with uncontrollable vomiting, diarrhoea, plus alarmingly low levels of iron despite being prescribed treatment for it. In hospital they found a small mass in my small bowel, along with “numerous” mesenteric lymph nodes. This coupled with the fact that there is a considerable family history or bowel cancer, has had me quite worried since then. I feel like I’ve been given the run around since then. I’m going back for a follow up at the hospital tomorrow, and don’t really know how to approach it. I’ve got a copy of the results of all my tests and records in the last year, and can see that nothing really has changed, although the iron levels have gone up somewhat, but are still considered low on treatment. I just know that they’re going to make me “wait and see” and I don’t think I can live with that. Aside from the above documented on my records, I have lived with stomach/abdomen pain for several years, daily nausea, vomitting, and I have at least 2-3 days a week I can’t leave the house because I’m glued to the loo.
Anyone any suggestions on how I get the message across that I can’t carry on like this, and feel that they should be doing more to get up the root of why. I say the words but they look at me with a bemused expression, which really makes me feel fobbed off.
