How do you manage to walk outside after an ankle injury wearing an ankle brace or support please?

Can anyone advise me please? I know this sounds really stupid!

I had an accident before Christmas and injured my left knee and my right ankle with ligaments involved.

I’ve recovered to the extent that I am ready to go for short walks outside on flat surfaces.

I’ve been advised to use two crutches, not traditionally under the shoulders, but as general supports, and wearing a brace around my ankle.

But the brace I’ve been given is half plastic, half Velcro tape, and it doesn’t fit in my shoe.

I’ve tried wearing one ordinary shoe and one Croc. I’ve tried one of dh’s slippers but haven’t felt able to walk comfortably in either. A friend’s big trainer didn’t work either as I nearly tripped in it!

Any suggestions please?

I wouldn't wear Crocs uness it's bone dry outside, they are too slippery. I would advise a pair of Skechers in a bigger size than normal.

Thank you so much TeaRoseTallulah,
I really appreciate this advice.

I don’t why I didn’t think of Sketchers; they are quite wide on me normally!

Honestly, keep trying things until you get lucky . I can’t believe there are people that want all their problems solved before trying shit! It’s
never considered the most advertised product for my condition on the market. Can anyone advise?

Er, thanks 😆

Did you read my op? I tried three different solutions that didn’t work.
