Hey, has anyone had a local anaesthetic up their nose? Ive got a polyp/mini bunch of grapes up my nose and Monday im having it removed, but im having kitten here freaking out about the whole thing, it bleeds so bad, just wondering if anyone has had it done and its not as traumatic as my creative brain is making out.

My brother had it last year, for the exact same thing. He was sore, bruised and it bled a lot afterwards for a while. Anytime he ate it would cause it to bleed, presumably from his facial muscles moving. It healed nicely though, he said the procedure was fine (he’s a huge wimp, too) and his face just felt a little worse for wear after for a while.

I had one removed but it was under general anaesthetic.

Thankyou for your reply. Didn't they cauterize it? If I blow my nose it does bleed a fair amount so im dreading it, its like the size of a garden pea, not big, but big to be up a nose. Urgh.. stress!

There’s more than a 50% chance they will come back. If you chicken out (like I would) you can always ask your GP for nasal steroid drops (not spray) these gave me months of relief without having surgery!

Im so close to backing out, but its getting bigger and bigger. They said it will be sent off for testing? Im not sure its a polyp, its more warty looking..its grim.

Can you not request a general anaesthetic? Local anaesthetic was never mentioned when I got mine removed. I had an overnight stay. It was 16 years ago but can't say it was painful afterwards. Never returned thankfully. I would go ahead with the removal.

When i went to ent the doctor was going to pull it out, then she saw the size of it and and just said no thats day surgery with a local. So I dont think they will let me be knocked out.

You could ask for some sort of sedation?

Pull it out? Good gosh, what about bleeding? I know somebody mentioned the steroid nasal spray. I tried that and it did not work.

Exactly, I went into panic mode because of the bleeding, but thankfully she changed her mind when she see the size of it.not sure the spray would work, its a bit of a chunky lump.
