Hello so I’ve been experiencing tooth pain the past two days and I went to an emergency dentist and got gone antibiotics around 2.30 this afternoon noon so I took one then and one not long ago
I fell asleep once my little one went to bed and I woke up and my gum is really hurting I’ve checked and it’s a massive tight ball almost feels like it will explode it’s white and purple
is this the normal process can someone help me please I will post a picture don’t look if you don’t want to sorry x

Dentist here. Firstly you need to give the antibiotics time to work. Be patient.
secondly it’s hard to tell without a photo but the right ball ready to explode might just do that, and then you will get some relief.

either way you’ll need to book back in with your dentist for further treatment

Toothache is the worst and infections can be really nasty. It will take a while for the antibiotics to get into your system. I had an impacted wisdom tooth that had gone rotten and also rotted the molar next to it. They both got infected inside (looked totally normal from the outside) and it was so painful. I’d basically finished the whole course of antibiotics before I felt any improvement. Persevere and hopefully you will feel some improvement but if things get worse go back to your dentist as you may need more/different antibiotics. I had both teeth pulled privately once the infection had gone down as I couldn’t bear the thought of it happening again.

If the lump hasnt down this morning, contact your dentist first thing this morning. They will be able to drain it and you’ll get instant relief
