Are my thighs normal?

Hi all,

Just after some thoughts and perspectives please. My thighs have always been very wobbly and the biggest part of my body. Over the last few years they seem to have got wobblier and now I’m wondering if this is normal or if there might be something else going on, like lipoedema. I don’t see many bare thighs (!) so was wondering if you think my thighs are just the normal thighs of a 41 year old woman, or if there might be something else. I have attached a lovely image for you..!

Thank you.

I’m 35 size 8 and my thighs have the same texture as yours. I’ve wondered if it’s lipodema as well. I’ve got a very slight ‘cuff’ over one knee, do you have that when you’re standing?

If it is lipodema, no amount of exercise will change that because it’s not excess fat, it’s the way your body stores it which causes the appearance.

Can you show a full length standing pic? Might give a better idea

Totally normal unfortunately or fortunately whichever way you look at it.

It doesn’t look horrific at all.
Op your thighs look normal, you could if you wanted to diet/exercise but I’m sure you already know that.
Take a look around you, there are probably loads of women that would love to have legs your size.

Are you a pear shape? This looks pretty normal in my world!!

A lot of slim women, who exercise a lot, seem to have this. Having said that, some larger ones who don't also do, so it just seems to be one of those things a lot of us have. There's always adverts for the miracle food/legging/workout/body brush/cellulite cream that will help...
I found I always got cellulite as soon as I got pregnant (and it went soon after giving birth) long before morning sickness. As that's not something talked about much, maybe it's just me, but some say there's a hormonal link.

Been a size 10 all my life and my thighs got like that at 40. Just one of those things some people get.

When I look in the mirror I want to hoik them up 😂. Still wear shorts though as nobody really cares and I see others the same.

RichInSpirit · 03/02/2026 19:13

This is so weird - have you recently watched a TikTok about a woman who has lipodema? Because I have and it got me thinking I might have it, then I see this thread.. I haven’t even heard of it before 😆
