Has anyone had one of these?
I’m booked in to have one tomorrow and I’ve suddenly become really stressed about having it done.
I’ve just read to have two paracetamol before I go, which don’t really work for me and I’m worried if it’s going to be painful.
Is there anything else you can ask for, for pain relief?

I had one a few years ago. I had a local anaesthetic - which is fairly standard I think? And I also took painkillers in advance. I found the procedure mildly uncomfortable, but not painful at all. I was really worried beforehand too.

Hope it goes really well!

I had one a couple of years ago and would say the fear of having it was worse than any discomfort actually experienced.

What helped reassure me was talking through beforehand any pain relief available should I need it. The consultant mentioned gas and air and local anaesthetic. We also had an agreement that if I found the procedure too uncomfortable it would be stopped at my request. In the event no pain relief was needed. I focussed on relaxing the area below the waist and was able to chat to her about the cause of the bleeding during the procedure and next steps. A biopsy was taken, which was a bit of an ouch moment but only lasted a few seconds.

I had one recently and was offered a general anaesthetic. I didn't want one so agreed with the anesthetist on deep sedation with option to convert to a GA if needed. I was unconscious for the whole thing.

Pain afterwards was minimal

I had one under general anaesthetic. I went home a couple of hours later and was told that someone had to stay with me for 24 hours. I had paracetamol for pain afterwards.

I had one last year. I chose to have a general. I still had to attend the initial procedure appointment and discuss my case with the gynaecologist however I declined the procedure at that point and asked for a general.
