After yet another bout of horrid tonsilitus my GP has reffered my five year old DS to hospital to have his tonsils removed. To begin with I was pleased, he suffers really badly, every other month. Snores like a OAP too. But he seems so little now! He's excited about the jelly and ice cream afterwards. Breaks my heart. I will have to be so brave for him!

I think you have done the best thing. Both my dds have been affected with this. Dr didnt think dd1 tonsils should be removed unless she had at least 12 attacks per year!!! However saw another dr in the practice who suggested removal straight away because she was missing so much school. Best thing we did! DD2 also missing lots of school but it seems drs are now even more reluctant to refer for tonsillectomy. Good luck - he will be fine.
