Hi everyone - has anyone experienced this or can shed any light because I’m worrying šŸ˜µā€šŸ’«
the week before Christmas my 5 year old boy had a uti - they sent his wee off to the lab and when they had the results back 5 days later they gave a weeks course of trimethoprim which seemed to clear it - since he’s complained about occasional lower tummy pains but been absolutely fine in himself so I didn’t think anything of it . Last Wednesday I took him back to the drs because the pain increased and when the dr dipped his wee there was leukocytes, nitrites and protein - he sent the wee off but gave 5 days of trimethoprim - we went back today as they wanted to test his urine again and there’s still leukocytes and protein - he’s given 5 days of cefalexin and sent the sample to the lab again. His lab result from last week didnt grow any bacteria so I’m unsure what to make of it - trying not to worry but it seems weird šŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø he had a pediatrician appointment in a couple of weeks so I’m gojng to mention it x

He gets reoccurant tonsillitis abd is scheduled for a tonsillectomy so it’s a meeting about that. No health anxiety, I’m genuinely concerned as would any parent šŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø

Trimethroprim is useless in many parts of the country. He should be on a second line antibiotic by now. Ask for ceflazxin. As he’s had it so long ask for a 14 day course.
