Some do look out of the ordinary. See the GP

I pay £100-200 once a year to go to a private dermatologist to have my moles checked. Could you afford to do that to give you some reassurance?

I think its the angles that make it look different sizes and shapes.
I would still get it looked at even just for peace of mind, especially extra dark, odd shaped ones or anything new and pink. Xx

I'm not a professional but I have had similar obsessive thoughts in the past and looked at a lot of pictures of skin cancer, and honestly I can't see anything at all to worry about in these images.

Occasionally skin cancer can occur in a normal-looking mole, but that's really rare and for the nhs to biopsy every normal-looking mark would be impossible.

I understand how you feel and my own obsessional phase was after a close friend died of melanoma. So I bothered the GP a couple of times and then decided to monitor it myself. I would suggest you keep taking photos of it, and unless you notice it growing or changing significantly, try not to worry too much x

Do you have many moles hun, I’ve seen 4 different gps and they all said it’s fine but I’ve got like a little darker spot inside it and I’m so scared x

Are yours all perfect hun, have any of yours different colours or any little spots in them xx

No they're all different shapes, sizes and colours. None are bigger than a couple of mm though and non are dark. I've had 3 or 4 removed over the years but all have been fine x I think as long as g as you are careful with the sun, wearing High SPF and covering up there's not much else you can do other than keeping an eye on them. Worrying is a waste of energy.

JeanieK · 25/01/2026 11:21

Yes I have some that have different shades of brown in them which freaked me out. But I think that is normal. What you're looking for in terms of colour is like proper black bits, or blueish, or very white or pink areas. The ones I was concerned about are still there 15 years later and even though they have changed slightly they are still completely harmless. Please don't worry.

Ohthatsabitshit · 25/01/2026 11:23

I think it looks normal and have lots of different moles.

Staceys128 · 25/01/2026 11:27

It’s just the spot I’m worried about inside the mole I can’t make out if it’s like a hair follicle hole or not

Boots do mole checks get results back in a week about £40

NoTouch · 25/01/2026 11:37

I had one with a little bubble like that years ago but the bubble over time turned much much darker than the rest of the mole, almost black, GP said not to worry about it, I went back to the GP a couple of times so they referred me, hospital said it didn't look concerning but since it was worrying me if I wanted they could cut it out, along with a margin, at the same appointment and send away for tests (and left me with a wide inch long scar I can still see 20 years later!).

All came back clear.

Staceys128 · 25/01/2026 13:53

Where do you live?

There are national Mole Clinics where they charge (not a huge amount) to check your moles. They look at them , take photos and send to a dermo, then you get your results.

There is one in London nr Oxford Circus but also other cities I think.

Google them.

yeriknow · 25/01/2026 14:40

Sorry to jump on but just wondering if anybody on here has any experience of this.

I have a mark that has appeared on my stomach. It’s pale brown, just a bit darker than my skin, but it’s entirely flat, not raised at all, so don’t think it’s a mole.

I have had a skin tag appear on my waist within the past couple of years and I wondered if this flat mark was the start of another skin tag, but it’s never developed into that. Still entirely flat.

Has anybody experienced this? Can’t see anything on Google.
