I have been diagnosed with shingles. I became unwell a week ago and several doctors at my surgery said it was a. Allergic reaction. Still felt unwell and another doctor confirmed shingles and put me in on 7 day anti virals now another GO at my surgery asked when I became unwell and j said a week ago. She said if you became ill with shingles a week ago then you shouldn't have been given anti virals because we give cream and you only need anti vuraks if they are given the first couple of days of getting shingles not a week later.

I said ive got antihistamines as I was first told I had a allergic reaction abd the doctor who eventually told nd I had shingles said take the antihistamines as well as anti virals as the antihistamines will help with itching. Tge GO said I should stop the antihistamines and only take anti viral. The doctor who diagnosed shingles said I an infectious but the Gp said that since it's been a week si ce j first became ill j am not infectious. What a load of bullocks. She needs to see my rash to determine that

I feel totally let down by my surgery who misdiagnosed me and delayed my treatment. Im very worried and my head is stinging abd so is my eye nut I. On painkillers

I hate all doctors

If it’s near your eye, you need to be seen again. It can be very serious if it gets in your eye.

Where is the shingles?

it can be hard with rashes because they are non specific. The GP likely made a diagnosis based off what they could see. Unfortunately sometimes they’re wrong and the early developing shingles/CP rash can be mistaken for an allergic rash.

the antivirals will still help, and the antihistamines will help if you’re itchy but not with pain.

I've had my eye thoroughly examined and was told it's fibe. I haven't got blurred vision and sobeobe said her daughter had shingles in the eye and it was painful but the pain eventually went and no affect to her eyesight or anything. I have lost all faith in the doctors at my surgery. All this GP said to me is if eye pain gets worse go to hospital. Stuff the lot of them

there are easily Google-able guidelines for shingles treatment…sounds like you were in the sightly grey area (7 days) when the shingles was diagnosed so technically both GPs could be right (did you post about this last week…clearly saying that they thought it was an allergy but had also planned proper review and safety netting in case it was shingles?). IIRC the infection risk persists until all the vesicles are scabbed over. I’d have a low threshold for staying in touch with them/asking for ophthalmology input if it’s close to your eye and there’s difference of opinion.

I phoned nhs 111 the other day and waited 14 hours for a call back. The NHS is an effing joke

What are you scared about? You are not sounding rational so you need to seek help urgently- call 111 immediately

I already said 111 is a joke. 14 hours wait for a call back. The GP S should have told me to call 111 immediately. All she said was go to hospital if it gets worse. Never ever want to speak to her again

The NHS isn’t a joke. There are some bad eggs and it’s vastly under resourced but it’s actually pretty decent.

what advice do you need? What part are you worried about? I’m a nurse if I can help?

Im worried about the eye because ive been told if you have shingles in the eye you can go blind. Someone else on here said call 111 if I have eye pain so I did and they asked if the pain was very severe and I said no and I then said the Gp said if the pain gets worse go to hospital and it hasn't got worse. They said follow your Gp advice abd I nearly said the GP misdiagnosed my shingles and someone else who has no medical training said I have shingles abd ive just been diagnosed
