I have a UTI with antibiotics, given on Friday. Pharmacist took BP and it was 150 /100. She then said I needed to see GP. I was feeling rough and started to panic. At the GP it went up to 160/100. GP said I need to wait until my uti is sorted then monitor it. I've been doing it at home for the 2 days and it ranges from 133/99 to 150/100. I'm starting to panic these numbers are sooo high. I was asked to monitor it last summer and it was 130/85 as an average.

Yes a bit high. If it's any consolation, when my BP was taken for a routine appointment it was 187/115. They wouldn't let me leave before prescribed immediate tablets. It went down to 170, 160, 150 and then 140 after a few days. Meanwhile was just working as normal, felt ok.

Completely grateful I found out amd got treatment. Xxx

With that BP I would expect the GP to want it monitored for a week rather than just put you straight on meds .
