I've got shingles

It took 5 doctors to diagnose my shingles. The First 4 said it was an allergic reaction. I wasn't convinced so I saw a 5th doctor who said ive got shingles. If I hadn't seen the 5th one then my shingles could have got worse. I've got it mildly but ive got stinging in the head. Its not that bad so im not taking painkillers but feels slightly worse when laying down. I've been given a 7 day course of anti virals which I have to take 5 times a day for 7 days. My eye is no longer swollen

You have my sympathies, I had it last year. It was awful

I feel for you. I had it during Covid and it was grim.

take the meds and rest as much as you can.

Sympathies, it’s horrid. Rest as much as you can. I didn’t at first and regretted it later. Took 2 doctors to diagnose me.

Sorry to hear that. I've just finished a course of a anti virals for shingles on my leg. And jeez, it hurt so much. I was totally miserable (the scabs are still healing so add itching to the stinging).

PS 3 doctors and much oohing and ahhing later.

I had it last month, so I feel your pain.

I kept on top of paracetamol and was able to go to work.

I diagnosed it myself initially (with the help of google), although my first thought was I had some sort of fungal condition!

Pharmacist suggested sudocrem for the rash, and I took the antivirals every four hours.

I hope you feel better soon.

Why did you go to work? Were you not contagious. If I sit uo or walk around the pain is hardly there, but it comes on as I lay down. I haven't taken painkillers today bit might take them when I go to sleep so that I get a good night's sleep. Luckily I can work from home

Thanks all. I have concert tickets for the end of January. I hope I can still go. I am contagious but hope to be able to mix by then. I've also got a holiday booked for beginning of March.

4 years ago I had painful sciatica in my leg and was on very strong painkillers. I still went abroad on holiday and took plenty of painkillers. Thankfully I dont get sciatica pain anymore.

My shingles pain is around my head and occasionally my eye aches but as I said only when lying down. My vision is fine and the eye has been thoroughly examoned
