Constant ache in head and neck

I’m such a worrier. I have this almost constant ache in neck that goes up to my head. I really don’t like going to the dr. Does anyone else have this? I have had it for a few years and sometimes it goes away.

Yes me too. It could be a tension headache but also structural (joints). This is the case for me. When I’m tense or stressed it starts in my neck and goes up the back of my head. I also have degeneration of the neck discs picked up on an x ray a few years ago and so this is another possible cause. I think it’s a double issue in my case.

I’m not medically trained so I suggest a gp visit initially. Then maybe an osteopath if you can afford to do so.

I have this, and I have osteoarthritis in my neck. I have pain in my neck that radiates up to the back of my head.

I have this issue. Mine started up after whiplash.
I’ve spend thousands on physio appointments.

im hyper mobile and dont have the best posture. I also work a desk job that’s very intense so my the end of a shift my neck and shoulders are rock hard and my head is thumping.

on bad days i take Syndol pain killers (dark packet) when i go to bed.
alternating between hot water bottle or ice pack
supporting my my neck properly when im sleeping

stretching and strengthening exercises for back/neck

Thank you all for those comments. Appreciated. Yeah I’m working on my posture. Desk job and not sitting properly has maybe taken some toll over the years!

it’s just so annoying. I’ll try some stretching exercises

For me it’s my teeth. My jaws are not aligned and the pain in my head and neck is now continuous. I’m seeing the orthodontist next week.

Bex1517 · 02/02/2026 19:50

@APatternGrammar hopefully you are on the road to getting it sorted
