Worried about breast lumps

As the title says, I'm worried about breast lumps. I felt a lump in my upper right breast recently which I saw my GP about. He reassured me it was normal breast tissue I was feeling, even though to me it felt like a small lump attached to the breast tissue. As I was so worried he referred me on, where an ultrasound showed only normal breast tissue. Is it possible to feel a lump yet itbbe normal tissue? I've now become obsessed with feeling my breasts but they are so lumpy and grainy, I can't tell what's normal. The underneath of my breasts feel soft with very small grainy lumps ( checking lying down) but my upper outer breasts feel so hard, almost like a can grip them, Is this how breasts should feel? It sounds so silly asking, I know. And does anyone else feel hard grainy lumpy bits when doing breast checks? Thank you.

Yes.

Apparently only 1 in 10 lumps referred to the breast clinic turn out to be cancer.

There is no 'one normal'. We are all different.

What we all need to do is get used to regularly checking ourselves, and know what is normal for us, and then go to the GP with changes, or things that are abnormal for you.

Well done for getting it checked out. Healthy breasts can feel lumpy and it's normal for it to change throughout the month. The important thing is to check your breasts regularly at the same time if the month so you know what's normal for you and you can spot any changes. Do go back to the GP if you think it's changed.

My breasts are both very lumpy and always have been. The 'lumps' are also pretty firm and the lumpy bits in each boob aren't exactly symmetrical either. It's just breast tissue. As posters above have said, get used to checking yours and establishing a baseline for what they feel like. The lumpy bits will get bigger and firmer at different points of your cycle so getting used to that is important as well. Just check them once a month around the same time (I think the recommended time is just after your period)
