Who can diagnose me: woken up screaming in agony

This was so odd in the night. I woke up at 4 am screaming out with pain in my ankle. The outer side. It came in four waves and the pain was almost unbearable. From 0-9 in seconds. Then it went. I was scared to move as moving it started it off. I also then had cramp in the same leg.

Now I’m pretty good at suffering pain quietly but this was outrageous. I’m 45, fit, healthy with no conditions other than an under active thyroid.

it’s completely fine today and was yesterday. I ca walk and it looks and feels normal

Anyone else had anything like this?

I had pain in my knee and hip and would wake up with pain and cramp and general pain in my bones, nothing extreme like your experience. The Dr wasn't helpful for me but the chiropractor has been. He's also suggested I check my vitamin D levels, start taking magnesium glycinate and ate more calcium rich foods. I was taking vitamin D with K but still slightly low so I increased that, and noticed on these vitamins my nails stopped breaking but best of all the pain and cramps stopped and my toe bone stopped clicking which I'd had for ages.
Calcium rich foods for me has been easy I swapped to having yoghurt with almond butter and some chia seeds for breakfast and eat some greens or broccoli every day. I wonder now if I was low in calcium as that can give muscle cramps as well as low magnesium.
I would personally now in your situation get checked my the doctor, and make sure you get your vitamin levels checked. I think for me, it's all been brought on by menopause and a reduction in collagen which I'm also now taking and an inability to absorb minerals properly.
Hope you get things sorted and don't get a repeat of the extreme pain.

Trapped nerve? I had it in my back once. Awful pain after waking in the night, I literally couldn’t move without being in agony. I was at my mums so she helped me, I took painkillers and put a heat pack on and then just tried to rest. When I woke up it was gone. It was the strangest thing, and I’ve never had it since.

Sympathy @councilpoms I had a random leg cramp the other day. I had no idea my muscle had so much power in it. It was tensed rock hard and took about 15 seconds to unclench. No idea why it did that but it was agonising. And then fine.

Trapped nerve or vitamin deficiency. Wouldn’t say its anything sinister if its fine and can be walked on.

I don’t know, I suppose I associate trapped nerves with backs. Can you get trapped nerves in ankles?!

@councilpomswell you have nerves everywhere, so I presume they can also become trapped anywhere!? I am not a medical professional though! Sounds similar though. Mine also came in waves.

I had a random one odd back spasm while I was expecting my youngest DS. The pain was horrific an the muscle was raised and hard, it looked like a weird hand shape trying to come through my skin. And I couldn't take anything much du to being pregnant 😫. The worst part was about 45 minutes and I couldn't move. I too had no idea how much power muscles could have until then
OP I'd second making sure you're not lacking any vitamins or minerals.

Should say off not odd.
