Neurologist has been suspicious of this for last few weeks although ESR and CRP aren’t hugely elevated. ESR was 29 at last blood test and CRP 9.

I’ve had an ultrasound of temples and the left side which is affected side looked ok and arteries not inflamed but doctor needed to do measurements and sent report to neurologist.

In meantime I’m on prednisolone 5mg x 10 daily and neurologist will review ultrasound.

Been on preds for two days and feel slightly better

Main symptoms for me are:

temple tenderness, under skin
Ear pain - stabbing pains, burning, prickling +++++
stabbing pain in eyebrow and inner eye

Anyone else had TA???

It was suspected that I had it a few years ago. I'd previously been incorrectly diagnosed by a GP as having sinusitis and antibiotics just weren't working. Luckily, another Doctor had a look at my notes and called me in for an urgent appointment. He said he wanted to rule out TA (I'd never even heard of it before). I was sent to hospital for blood tests and then had an urgent CT Scan. The results were normal and it turned out I didn't have it. I was put on Amitriptylene (?) and my symptoms eventually got better. Occasionally, I do still get aching temples, pain across my head and face etc. I hope someone replies who knows more about it.

My DM had it, together with PMR.

Honestly everyone feels a bit better on steroids so that in itself isn't diagnostic.

She found her symptoms dramatically resolved with the steroids.

Fingers crossed you haven't got it as the treatment is tough and my DM has never fully recovered.
