I had an abdominal ultrasound in April last year which showed mild Fatty Liver -
‘The liver is slightly hyperechoic and coarse in echotexture with acoustic attenuation. These findings are consistent with mild fatty infiltration of the liver. No solid lesion is identified.
The portal vein is patent with hepatopetal flow (17.4 cm/s)’
Doctor was unconcerned and basically said to lose weight.
I then had an unrelated abdominal MRI scan in August last year and the report stated the liver was normal 🤷🏻♀️
I’ve been experiencing intermittent pain on the right side of my back area under the ribs (could be the ribs but I don’t know for sure)
It’s aggravated by certain movements and doesn’t hurt when laid down or sat or stood still. I’ve had it for about 4 weeks now.
My worry is that the mild fatty liver has progressed to Cirrhosis in the 6 months since I had a normal MRI…. I do drink alcohol.
I had normal Liver function tests in October last year.
I stupidly googled and worried myself sick that the pain is because of Cirrhosis.
Could mild fatty liver progress to Cirrhosis in the 6 months since a clear MRI if I have not stopped drinking alcohol?
I do have health anxiety.
I will have a few glasses of wine most nights. I’ve recently cut back to just Saturday nights.
