Any quick and easy remedies to lift the remnants of a chest infection?

I’ve had an awful chest infection since Boxing Day. I’m not unwell now but have rubbish in my chest that is hardly budging. The wheezing and crackling is driving me mad and keeping me awake at night (have coughing fits trying to get it out). What I have coughed up (sorry tmi) is thick and green. I’ve gone through a bottle of chesty Benylin and Covonia but it’s not budging. I’ve also been out in the fresh air a bit to loosen it.

Can anyone recommend anything? I feel like my lungs are clogged up!

Time to see the GP - you might need anti-bios to shift it. Sorry you are suffering, I had a shit Christmas due to breathing issues too, but for other reasons still to be investigated.

Agree with the pp, you need a GP.

In the meantime, rub in lots of vicks vaporub (or a generic version), especially at night and keep your chest well covered. Also drink loads of fluids, to thin out the mucus and help it to loosen. Vit c (tablets or food/drink containing it) a few times a day can also help.
