Breast lump

I got refered 4 months ago for thickening in the upper left breast and they scanned it and said benign nodularity left breast upper outer quadrant and told me it’s normal, well last week I fount a lump that same area but before it was just thickening I went my doctors and she said she could feel a small firm lump and refered me urgently I’m so scared, I’m 33 she said it was firm but not tethered, anyone else got any positive stories I just can’t calm down :(

I think only 1 in 10 breast lumps ends up being cancer - and seems reassuring that the specialist literally looked at the area few months back - but of course you’re going to be worried so I’m sending best wishes for a speedy appointment and good news ❤️

I had a firm lump and turned out to be a cyst. Presuming you had an ultrasound at your last appointment and they didn’t find anything then it would be highly unlikely to be anything sinister but you are doing the right thing and getting it double checked.

I’m in the same boat as you - I have my app on Thursday and have been swinging between trying not to worry and convincing myself I’m going to get bad news! If it reassures you at all I’ve been here twice before and both times have been diagnosed as having benign cysts and lumpy breast tissue which apparent is quite common.

I’m trying to put it out of my mind by thinking I’m either worrying over nothing or if it isn’t the news I want I’ll then have spent what is potentially the last few days that I could be carefree worrying too if that makes sense!

You have my sympathies as it’s awful but the majority of referrals will be for something not cancer related. Hope everything goes well x

Hey hun I was so scared but they ended up scanning it and it was normal breast tissue, good luck and hope you have a good outcome, they told me out of 100 referrals only 2-3 have cancer so the risk so soooooo low xx

Just an update in case anyone is in the same boat and looking here for reassurance - I had my appointment today and the radiologist was fairly sure the lump is a lymph node. They took a biopsy to be sure and she said the lump reduced in size when the needle punctured it which it really reassuring. I need to wait 2 weeks for the results but was sent away feeling very reassured.

That is excellent news. I had a lump biopsied and it also collapsed. It turned out to be fibrocystic breast change's which is benign in nature.
