boils?

Had my fist boil on my chin a few weeks back. Another one came up on my neck about 10 days ago and now another one's coming up close to where other neck boil is.

I've never suffered with these in the past.

Does anyone know what causes them?

Much thanks in advance for any responses.

Aren't they a sort of blocked pore thing gone wrong - sort of under the skin IYSWIM

Diet?

EffiePerine · 12/06/2008 12:46

plague?

sorry, not helpful. Have no idea - vitamin deficiency? Scurvy?

Worth checking with your practice nurse/GP?

Plague ROFL

CilC · 12/06/2008 12:47

Are you pregnant? Pimples, boils, etc on chin are usually hormonal.

Wuxiapian · 12/06/2008 13:05

Not pregnant, CilC.

Effie, tut.

Don't see how I'd be getting blocked pores at the front of my neck.

I do have spot-prone skin - usually confined to forehead area, but they're just regular zits - nothing like these monsters.

Nothing's changed in my diet.

i thnk that once you have one they flare up every now and then and i do nto think there is anything you can do about it thoug hspeak to your gp about it.
my dad has one that appears every year on the side of his temple.

smartiejake · 12/06/2008 13:35

I read somewhere that they can be a sign that you are run down.

Wuxiapian · 12/06/2008 14:02

So, zitty and boily skin to contend with now. How very marvellous.

My Dr said a couple years ago that my acne could be due to stress, so, yes, I guess these horrid things could be, too.

Jeez, I'm in need of a holiday...

What's the best lotion/potion to use on them? I've pretty much just been leaving them until the yellow head rears its ugly head and then I have a squeeze.

Shite skin in my 30s. Ah well...

I too have shite skin in my 30s. . Are they large boils or more like regular large spots but very hard and unsqueezable? The reason i ask is that it's maybe cystic acne. I should know as I've developed this in the last year or so, as well as bog standard spots as usual. Lovely isn't it?
Stress is definitely a factor.

scotsgirl · 12/06/2008 18:32

oops, just saw that you squeeze them, so I guess my diagnoses is out the window...

windygalestoday · 12/06/2008 18:34

my nanna would say its all your badness (naughtiness}coming out .... are u run down stressed etc etc?

Wuxiapian · 13/06/2008 22:21

Well, scots the first symptom I get is incredibly itchy skin around the area.

Then the huge and very painful (hard and unsqueezable) lump comes up an stays that was for a few days until the yellow head starts showing.

I can't resist but try squeeze it. Not sure if that's the right thing to do. It becomes very red/blistery and even more sore.

Cystic acne?! Jee-sus! How often do you get thes boils, then, scots, and how's best to deal with them?

windy, your nanna could well be right. Had lots of (extra) stuff to deal with the last 6 months or so.
