Think I have a prolapse - really worried

I’m 49 years old. I have booked a GP appointment but I have to wait a month. I feel uncomfortable as though I have a tampon stuck and feel like my insides might fall out. I’m terrified that it’s too late to improve this. I have been lazy with exercises. I’m generally fairly fit and slim but don’t do kegals as I should and now when I do I can’t hold the squeeze for anymore than a second. My gran had a prolapse and it was miserable for her so now I’m really stressed that I have left it too late.

I’ve had surgery for a prolapse. Prior to my surgery, I saw a gynae physio to help me with exercises. She said that my muscles were actually in reasonable shape but I had a physical problem that needed fixing. I tried an intense course of exercise and also various pessaries. The pessaries are intended to keep everything in place. Each one I had fitted just fell out. The surgeon I saw said I was on a hiding to nothing, so I had the surgery.

It is what it is. Don’t beat yourself up. My pregnancies were to blame and you are probably the same.
