Ds1 had a operation on his leg last month and he is worried about the scars. I have only seen the one on the back of his leg as he is in knee length plaster atm, but the one on the back of his leg is like a big S and is very noticeable. WHat can used to fade it and when can I start using it? Thanks

Vitamin E, get the oil in capsules that you can break open and rub in.

You can get cream with it in but obviously won't be as strong.

Apparently Bio Oil is good but haven't tried it personally.

There are also some new plasters available that are supposed to reduce scarring. I worked for Smith & Nephews when they were testing them and they seemed to have pretty good results on paper, but again not used personally.

As long as the wound is healed so there is no risk of infection, you should be ok to start using something on it.

If the scar is bumpy, rubbing it for 5 mins every day it will help break down the scar tissue and can improve the appearance.

I would use starflower cream from Napier's the Chemist (homeopathy and health shop).

But if not then Vit E capsules mixed with joboba oil because Vit E on its own is dead sticky.
