I’ve had this on and off most of the day. Been stretching (pulling foot upwards) and walking to try to get rid of it but it’s still lingering and I can’t sit and relax. Any tips?

Are you drinking enough. Can you eat a banana?

azuleja · 01/01/2026 22:04

I’m prob a bit dehydrated but have been drinking lots of tea. I’ll try the banana thing. Getting desperate

Stretch the opposite muscle to the one cramping or use a foam roller or tennis ball roll in its place. Often another muscle is counter pulling so if the back of leg muscle is tight stretch the front one. Advice that works for me. Lick some salt or put some in some squash and magnesium is good. Epsom salt baths help.

Visualise it relaxing too using a yoga body scan technique. If you have had it all day it maybe stuck in a cycle of clench / release. So try lying still belly breathing and body scan from toes to head focusing on releasing each muscle calm breaths. It will help with general anxiety tension around the issue good luck.i also use Magnesium Sleep by better you which helps.

Brilliant tips thank you @HotXcrossBuns
just ate half a banana and found that lying down in bed in the dark is helping, will do the body scan thing.

I don’t know what worked in the end but I did this:

drank water/tea
ate a banana
stretching
massage
hot water bottle
took paracetamol

and it’s fine today.
