Ferritin still low

I have been on Ferrous fumarate since 20th November after blood tests showed my iron level was low. A FIT test was negative. My level was 2 it is now 9 after tests on 23 December however the text from GP says not serious but can I arrange a non-urgent appointment to discuss. As it can take up to six months for iron levels to return to normal, something GP should know. shouldnt they have waited a bit longer to test.

What else can they give me in addition to or instead of the tablets? I leave at least 2hrs between the iron tablet and my other medication sometimes longer and take with orange juice. Was hoping it would have improved more than this.

I don’t know your age but the nutrition geeks menopause bundle is fantastic

They probably -OK definitely- need to find out WHY it's so low. Are you still having periods, or post menopause?

How is your haemoglobin?

Are you tolerating the ferrous fumarate OK?

2??
That's really low and from what I've been reading you should have had an iron infusion I think
Mines 10 and I'm doing the same as you

I took tablets (correctly) for a year OP and my level went down! My GP referred me for an infusion, and it got rejected initially. The hospital said I had to do a coeliac test to rule out that as a cause of malabsorption. As I knew it would, it came back negative. A few weeks later, I got a call from the hospital to arrange my iron infusion! Some GPs can be very blase about low ferritin, particularly if haemoglobin is normal. Hopefully yours will be supportive.

I would take it with vitamin c instead of orange to make sure you’re getting a decent dose
how many tablets are you taking?
