Hi guys im not much of a poster but i thought id pop on and ask for a little advice or to see if anybody else has had any similar experiences
just to add i have tried all day to get an appointment with my doctor but no joy but did manage to get an appointment in the morning
for the past week ive had a pressure feeling above my breasts chest bone area with the occasional uncomfortable stabbing but i just brushed that off putting it down to the stress of Christmas but the past 2 days the pressure has radiated to the right side just above right breast arm pit shoulder/shoulder blade this morning i woke up and my right breast was double the size to the other and also a burning red rash on my right arm 🤔 the rash has now cleared but this pressure pain is still on going what could this be ? Has anybody else experienced this ?

What was the rash like? Could it be shingles?

Latenightreader · 29/12/2025 19:38

Are you/have you recently been breastfeeding? Sounds like when I had a blocked milk duct. I knew what mine was and it eventually cleared after a long session running hot water over it in the shower, but I was planning to see the doctor. The relief when it cleared!

Good luck - hope you get a GP appointment tomorrow.

Hi thanks for the replys
the rash was very red hot and bumpy but cleared within the hour of noticing it does a shingles rash come and go?
also to add im not breastfeeding or recently have been should of mentioned that really as i no a swollen breast can be sometimes quite common in breastfeeding

How are you feeling today? Hope it has eased a little.

Definitely keep that GP appointment. Any sudden changes in your breasts such as swelling, skin changes etc need to be checked urgently. I don’t want to panic you but it can be a sign of breast cancer. Approximately 10% of breast cancer cases don’t develop as definite lumps and instead present as general breast swelling, nipple changes, skin texture or colour changes. It’s called inflammatory breast cancer. The first sign DM had of her cancer was the breast overnight swelled to twice the size of the other. Luckily her GP got her a hospital appointment in less than a week and she is now doing well on treatment, the prognosis is good.

its very likely your symptoms are caused by something much less serious but it’s important to check for potential serious causes as quickly as possible.

I'd be calling 111 for that and doing what they tell you to rather than waiting for your GP appointment

i agree, ring 111
