I think I had a viral illness end of November/beginning of December. I had severe exhaustion, no energy, arms and legs aches and thighs and groin were painful, headache and like a floaty sensation but not dizzy in vision. I think if might have been flu? Never had it before and this knocked me for six. I had bloods done first week in December and all came back normal but I know viral doesn’t always show up. I’m still now feeling very tired and low energy and in bed at night my chest feels a dull ache when turning over. Driving me mad

It could be post viral, there are some really unpleasant bugs doing the rounds, but if there is any potential for this to be a heart issue or something like a pulmonary embolism and the tests you’ve had done haven’t ruled it out, it might be worth checking in with your GP. Too often women are told they are too young, or it’s very rare, where if it was a man they’d be having a more thorough investigation and it’s actually a heart attack with atypical symptoms, or a blood clot. The chest ache being linked to movement would be more reassuring that it’s costochondritis or something like that combined with fatigue from your body getting over a virus, but you don’t mention a cough, nasal congestion, anything like that, which would make me more thoughtful. Hope you feel better soon.

Everyone in this house has similar symptoms - DS has full on proper flu come on last night. Told me in a quavering voice he has never felt as bad in his life this morning. He has never had proper flu so it's a shock to him- poor kid- he's early 20's

  • I'm still recovering from from feeling crappy from mid November and DH has gone to bed already. He's had a hot bath and some Vodka and coke (coca cola)- I think he has DS's flu. I'm doing the best for now have started on the Christmas Gin. We all have 2 weeks off work so just told DH I'll see him about 11 am tomorrow. Nothing urgent to do tomorrow and all the Christmas shop delivered at 9.30 tonight so loads of easy food in the fridge. Sorry for you it is the most lingering virus ever - I've woken up feeling on top of the world the odd day lately thinking its over but it never is. This morning was brutal getting up at 6am for work - so dark and cold. We are done now thank goodness. Cannot stop sneezing! We have so many boxes of tissues and packets of Lemsip tablets just hope we all sleep tonight- most people I know are ill at the moment- These are people I have not physically seen so I haven't passed it on!

i had a dry cough and in the mornings and evenings I have some snottiness but not full on cold symptoms. I called the doctors yesterday and explained the chest and the receptionist just said I could go to a pharmacy for advice so she wasn’t that concerned. I think because it’s the bone in the middle and feels muscular I’m not too worried and I’ve definitely had some sort of viral illness. I have anxiety too which I know can prolong recovery as I’m constantly worrying about physical symptoms! X

Omg I feel for you all :(
and yes as you mentioned you’ve had it since mid November so it has prolonged for such a long time it’s awful isn’t it. I’ve also had days when I think ah yes I’ve got energy etc and then I’m floored the next day. It’s so frustrating :( hard to know if it was flu or Covid as I never tested. X

Everyone seems to have Flu A and it's brutal this year. DH felt it coming on for about a week early December, just wasn't right. Then all of a sudden he was in bed a full week (he has flu vaccine too). Fever, sore chest, awful cough, very sore throat, no appetite and so so tired. Actually forced him in to GP who said viral and would just take time. Almost 3 weeks on now and energy is up and down but he's still very tired for the most part. Also still has a terrible cough. His chest is like yours also still tight but no harm getting checked if youre still worried.
For me was totally different - mild cough, barely a scratchy throat, no temp. Then one day got that same weird floaty feeling, came home from work, felt so nauseous and like I was going to pass out. 2 days in bed and thought I bounced back only to be struck down again a day later.
Seems to be absolutely rampant and loads of people getting hit in different ways for about a month.
