Does this look like a verruca? Or something else?

Ds6 has a lump on his heel. We assumed it was a verruca so have been treating it with one of the salicylic plasters. But now im not 100% sure it is one.

First photo it how it originally looked, then the other is after having the plaster on.

It’s larger than I would expect.

Has it got any black dots in it? If so, yes it's a verucca.

Orangepate · 19/12/2025 20:34

Mate, you’ve been abducted by aliens.. they’d probe marks!

The second picture isn’t very clear. Don’t use something caustic on a 6 year old.

Looks like a verruca! Sadly most at home treatment doesn't work so I'd stop the acid as it'll be too strong for your 6 year old and just wait for it to come off. Keep it covered with a plaster in shared areas.

banana inside side down to the verruca and duck tape over the top worked on DD.

Possibly a plantar wart

That’s a verruca. Same thing, different name

One learns something new every day! 😆

Probably, but I'd leave it until obviously is. Says a mum of a daughter with weak immune system who has had every skin condition that exists.

I can share some lovely pics of mid treatment ;)

When I had a verruca, at first it looked more like a corn. It was like a smooth skin coloured lump. After I’d taken off a layer of skin through various means, it had the black dots underneath and was very obviously a verruca. My son had one too and I used zinc tape on it although it took a good few months. I still remember very fondly the moment it fell out.
