Blood in diarrhoea - stool sample normal?

So on Monday evening I began with some
loose stools which started randomly and then progressed into needing to go every hour or
two all throughout the night into Tuesday.

Tuesday morning I noticed lots of blood mixed in with that episode…and it was all
mucusy and slimy… so I called the GP, sent in a photo.

They said not to worry, could be due to a bacterial infection, viral infection or just a pile or something. I took a sample in as advised.

Since Wednesday my stools have been firming up, don’t feel like eating much and have a very low level tummy ache whenever I do eat.

The sample Has come back negative! So
im really worried now about what caused all the blood. It was all over the slimy stool and mixed in too which I noticed doing the sample.

The GP isn’t worried at all.
Im 36 and have a young child and it’s really making me stressed, can’t eat, have Xmas to sort out and I’m scared to do a poo! Feel
like I’m scared to see blood again.

I work with kids so maybe I caught a bug. I also ate a reheated meal which I never heated thoroughly but surely those things would show in a stool sample and I’ve read only bacterial
can cause bloody diarrhoea.

has anyone has similar and it been ok?

I often get blood when I have diarrhoea. As it’s red it’s probably way less of a worry. You’re right to keep am eye as this stuff is important but trust your GP unless it continues for a few more weeks or you don’t get any more symptoms
