Cough for a few weeks, GP or leave it?

i had a flu like thing recently in bed for a couple of weeks then wiped out for a further two weeks. Now I’m just left with a cough. Had the cough for about 3 weeks now and feel fine in myself but it’s a mucus cough but it’s not overly chesty. Should I go GP or should it get better soon on its own, I’m trying to avoid going to the GP as it’s always too busy especially this time of year.

I think the advice is 3 months.

Go to pharmacy for advice

Unless you're coughing up blood or something, it'll resolve itself eventually.

If it would help you could ask the chemist for either an expectorant or something to suppress the cough.

I had a horrible cold (?flu) about a month ago. I was off work for a week. I'm still coughing, though less than I was

Thanks I think I’ll leave it to new year then . Feel fine just the cough now. No blood just mucus.

Someone on here recommended a salt inhaler and it worked for me when I had the same. Cough cleared up within a couple of days
