What is this on 9yo's big toe?

This weird red mark has come up on my daughters big toe. It's sore but I've no idea what it is or why it's there. I've put sudocrem on it and a plaster. She's poorly at the moment with a virus but this came up a few days ago. I'm not sure if the two are related as she's been ill a lot this term and there's no other rashes or spots anywhere. Any ideas?

Has the mark grown in size?

I don't think so but will check when she wakes up.

It's changed shape but not sure it's spreading as such. It's not as bright red as it was and there's a definite dot/circle in there. I'm wondering if it's a strange looking verruca?

I wondered that but all the Google photos showed massive swollen toes. She wears thick socks all the time but she is very sensitive to the cold.

I was going to say chillblain as well . Is it itchy at all ? As they can be .

She did say it's sometimes itchy. She hasn't noticed her feet being particularly cold but then she does struggle to notice things like this as she is ADHD. I'm wondering if she's low in some vitamins or something as she's been off school 3 times since September with various viruses. Her circulation should in theory be fine as she never sits still!

Not much you can do if they are chillblains , however don't put feet on hot water bottles to the to keep her feet warm or near to radiators etc . Just make sure her feet are dry in shoes and her socks are warm and cosy and not tight .

When I get chilblains this is how they look.
