Think I’m coming down with it, sore throat today, but hoping I can power on and it’s not one that takes your ability to function (this is what Covid does to me). My kids have it and seem quite rough, enough to be off school.

Had my flu jab in Sept and it can’t be Covid as I caught that in Oct and was very ill.

Dont know what youve got but i was wiped out for a week and at about 50% for another week. Had flu jab in October.

The one I’ve had was bad. Felt really rough for a week and am still coughing over three weeks later and absolutely exhausted. Barely doing the basics as just hanging the washing out or doing the school run is wearing me out! Usually I am very active.

Thegrassroots26 · 10/12/2025 16:50

Sorry to hear that both of you. Really hoping I don’t get it badly and it’s more of a cold than a flu that stops you in your tracks. How did yours start off? Sore throat here seems more cold like than flu at the moment as that often starts suddenly I think.

I had a bad cold about a month ago which lasted at least 2 weeks and made me feel very weary and started with a sore throat

Chemenger · 10/12/2025 16:51

I had Covid a couple of weeks ago, it started with a very sore throat. Still feeling totally washed out.

Yes I had what I’m almost certain was Covid in Oct and that started with a sore throat and had me laid up for many weeks, so it can’t be that again, so soon. Covid is the worst!

Mine started with a very sore throat then progressed to a very heavy cold. I didn’t have a temperature at all but felt awful and so fatigued.

DH caught it from me but he just had a mild cold for a couple of days and then back to normal (usually it’s the other way round!). Hopefully yours is more like that.

blueskiesandsun · 10/12/2025 18:40

Following as coming down with one now, 3 days in.

So far a very sore throat is the worst symptom, plus tiredness, headache, feeling meh. (Sore throats set off vivid memories of a particularly awful bout of tonsillitis about 10 yrs ago so trying to suppress anxiety about possible trajectory!)

Chest feels odd and the occasional cough but it’s not a major feature. Possibly tonsillitis or a cold... Throat looks red and inflamed but no white spots atm.

@Thegrassroots26 hope you feel better soon and can keep going!

Pavementworrier · 10/12/2025 18:41

I've got the can't swallow sore throat and the shivers down your shoulder blades ache. Maybe it'll be gone by tomorrow?!

LaundryEveryday · 10/12/2025 19:13

Day 10 here and still cannot get out of bed

xogossipgirlxo · 10/12/2025 21:52

Everyone in my house is having it atm. Nasty stuff, I’m on day 3 and no end in sight. I’m normally unwell for 2 days. I’m in fleece pjs, fleece on and under heated throw
