Bit embarrassaing but has anyone ever had this feeling in your behind?

I have had this feeling a few times recently, not all the time, but usually when I need to go or after I’ve just been.
The only way I can describe it is maybe it’s a nerve or muscle spasm, almost like a contraction in your mum, which feels uncomfortable but not painful.
Does anyone know what I mean?

I used to get javelin arse when I was on my period, if that's what you mean maybe?

Fionasapples · 10/12/2025 10:45

I used to, it felt like a muscle spasm inside. It stopped after I had a hysterectomy so maybe something was disrupted, like the nerve pathway or position of the bowel.

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 10/12/2025 10:46

I get it when l have constipation. It’s horrible.

puppyparent · 10/12/2025 10:49

Yep I get it randomly from time to time and have done since I was young. It’s incredibly painful but thankfully only lasts for less than a minute usually

popsthecat · 10/12/2025 11:09

Thanks all so sounds quite normal. Yes it’s a horrible sort of discomfort, stops you in your tracks. I have, since having my second child, I’m only 36, felt something is not quite right downstairs for me. I seem to get extremely bad PMS symptoms these days, also I dunno if this is also normal but something when I put a tampon in it goes sideways, or actually flips 180! I wonder if I have some kind of pelvic floor problem.
however what I will say is sex has never felt better.

I get it with my period but not every time. It’s horrible isn’t it but I don’t believe anything sinister.

namechanged221 · 10/12/2025 17:16

Javelin arse....

hulahoopbbq · 10/12/2025 17:18

Yeah javelin arse not so much these days

flapjackfairy · 10/12/2025 17:20

I find if you clench the muscles and then relax them a few times it tends to pass off. It is truly horrible.

PhilosophicalCheeseSandwich · 10/12/2025 17:23

Yeah, javelin arse. I always think I've got over it when months pass without an episode, then YOW!

BurntBroccoli · 10/12/2025 17:25

I call it the arse daggers - it’s really painful. My son gets it too!

whatsit84 · 10/12/2025 17:28

Javelin arse! I have endo and it’s a thing! Properly takes my breath away sometimes

KilliMonjaro · 10/12/2025 17:39

Javelin Arse!

spiderlight · 10/12/2025 17:57

It's officially called proctalgia fujax and it is so blooming painful! I don't get it all that often any more but I am occasionally woken up by it in the middle of the night. Hate it!

winterbluess · 10/12/2025 18:02

Javelin arse 🤣🤣 I used to get it quite often, but haven't had it for a while actually

Lifelover16 · 10/12/2025 18:08

Yes javelin arse (or proctalgia)

KnickerlessParsons · 10/12/2025 18:10

Yes! At night occasionally, and only since the last 3/4 years.
I’m early 60s.

cestlavielife · 10/12/2025 18:10

Take a buscopan when it happens

Cappie73 · 10/12/2025 18:13

lol omg yes! During period

dynamiccactus · 10/12/2025 18:24

Yes I used to get it during my period. It's not funny when you are driving!

I just thought it was wind in your back passage. Or maybe that is different but no less horrible!

hairypaws · 10/12/2025 19:30

Yeah javelin arse. Can be excruciating. I was chatting to my beautician the other day about this whilst getting waxed - we had a right laugh as you can imagine. Apparently it’s caused by oestrogen fluctuation at time of month. I don’t get it anymore and I’m now on hrt so could well be this reason.

Men get it too - it’s rare but it can’t be caused by oestrogen.

Bit of a prolapse maybe? That can feel uncomfortable if it drops into the vagina a bit. If your tampon isn't behaving when you put it in.
