Associated with ovulation pain it's right there worse this month.
Keeps making me jump and shout out like a twat.
I've had paracetamol, what else can I do??
Shit a brick it's painful Sad

I find ibruprofen is better than paracetamol? Then just keep on top of the dosage so every 4 hours (up to maximum dose but not over). Nothing else helps. I also try to work out when it’s due to happen and take the painkillers in advance.

Bechetdiagnosed · 09/09/2018 20:08

Get on all fours. Or sit on the loo.

I feel for you OP. It turns me into a howling wreck Sad

ivykaty44 · 09/09/2018 20:09

What is it?

Anonymumtum · 09/09/2018 20:10

My special ladies physio said to clench/pull your pelvic floor muscles up. Not tried it yet mind...

Groovee · 09/09/2018 20:11

I've been suffering with this for the last 5 weeks off and on. It's so painful. The GP has given me naproxen.

ScrambledSmegs · 09/09/2018 20:14

You need to clench your bum muscles in and up, not your glutes, the ones inside (sphincter?). It's weird but it helps.

RomanyRoots · 09/09/2018 20:16

Is that like a pain that goes right up your bum? or is that something else.
I used to get this it was like being in labour

bigchris · 09/09/2018 20:27

I get this

Does anyone know what causes it ?

Delatron · 09/09/2018 20:34

Mine is caused by ovulation pain. So just once a month I get it, normally passes in a few hours but I struggle to walk/do anything for those few hours.

moonandsun · 09/09/2018 20:48

I'm menopausal but still get occasionally, but only in the middle of the night.
It seems to go off after about 10 minutes of agony.

bigchris · 09/09/2018 20:48

Think mine is when I sit down for too long at work

bigchris · 09/09/2018 20:48

Oh yes middle of the night here too !

simonisnotme · 09/09/2018 20:54

ibuprofen is better than paracetamol and as ^^pp said sit on loo
haven't had it for quite a while but my god it hurts when it happens

PretendNothing · 09/09/2018 21:00

This pain is more common than you'd think. Look up 'proctalgia fugax' and 'levator ani syndrome' for suggestions on how to soothe it.

crosser62 · 09/09/2018 21:05

Yes to sitting on loo, all fours and have tried pelvic floors, now much better.
Takes your breath and makes me jump into the air suddenly.
I was finding it too painful to sit down this time.
I need to go to the gp, think I may have pcos due to the severity of the pain each month at each side along with the javelin arse and heavy dragging feeling on my undercarriage. It's not normal. Also much hairier in odd places and cannot just CANNOT shift any weight regardless of my efforts.
Could do with it all being taken out ideally.

Thanks for understanding, just getting me and good advice. You are fabulous xx

I've just realised I haven't had javelin arse (aka pineapple arse) since I got the merina fitted. It's the one period /ovulation symptom I've managed to ditch. I did use to find moving helped though, just standing up and walking. Hope something helps soon for you.

bigchris · 09/09/2018 21:09

Oh that's really helpful!

bigchris · 09/09/2018 21:10

That was to pretendnothing!

allypally999 · 10/09/2018 09:05

Sitting on a hot water bottle stops mine (always in the middle of the night). Stress brings it on for me

smurfy2015 · 10/09/2018 10:34

Just to throw in here, it could be your pudendal nerve, however, I am not a Dr or medical professional of any kind -

i have spent too many nights watching my partner suffer from this - he finds it helpful to perch on the side of the hardest chair possible and put weight on it so as to put it to sleep and gain some respite from the intense pain, also heat packs to his arse

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pudendal_nerve

As it is in the pelvis that could possibly explain why its worse during periods

Pelvic floor exercises throughout the month as well might help avoid it overall, its basically, in this case, a nerve being pinched so hurts like hell to stop you pinching it further (highly technical explanation here)

smurfy2015 · 10/09/2018 10:35

Like @allypally999 says it tends to come on in the middle of the night which is kind of pattern related to pudendal nerve problems

allypally999 · 10/09/2018 12:45

That makes total sense Smurfy and the first time I've seen any other explanation than proctalgia fugax (spelling?). I have always been totally constipated so may have damaged it that way. Also I sometimes get it during sex so this makes sense. Hubby gets it too but can't explain his.

CaveDivingbelle · 10/09/2018 20:52

clenching when it comes on is the only thing that helps for me
