Bum problems, I know nobody can help

I’ve got a massive pile. (NC). It appeared overnight on Monday despite having no constipation or straining. It’s the size of a cherry and absolute agony. I’m doing sitz baths, ice packs, Germoloids. Looking on here and Google it seems there’s nothing the doctor can do. I feel like I’m being stabbed. Just looking for some solidarity :( We’re having a party on Saturday and I’m worried I won’t be able to sit down. Hand hold please!

Your GP can refer you to a consultant to have it banded or removed. I sympathise, it's so painful when it pops out. Just keep it clean and apply lots of Anusol. If you have trouble sitting, try a thick sanitary towel to cushion it

Is the banding very painful? Thank you for your reply x

I had mine banded during a colonoscopy so I had pain relief and partial sedation so I didn't feel anything, but it didn't hurt afterwards. The only problem was it only lasted a few months and came back. I then had a procedure called something like THD (I may have got that wrong) where they use an implement to cauterise the veins (a bit like sticking a big nose hair clipper up and twisting it round) so the piles die off. That was 8 years ago and I've had no trouble since, and my piles were pretty bad. That procedure was a bit sore for a couple of days, but not as painful as my piles at their worst.

Things that help: reduce meat, caffeine, increase water. Sleep in your side, use a donut cushion to sit on. Gentle walking. Baths. Painkillersz

Could it be something else like an abscess or boil? I’d have them check it over if you can get a gp appointment.

Anusol HC (with hydrocortisone) is really effective, I use the suppositories as there are likely internal piles before the external became obvious. There are other steroid ointments too - I think Scheriproct (sp.?), which is easier to apply externally.

I had exactly this a few weeks ago. Out of the blue too. After 2 days of it not getting any better & not being able to do anything much at all (I couldn’t even sleep) I gave in & went to my GP. She gave me Scheriproct(?) suppositories & ointment & the relief! I stopped using after a week, returned to GP a week later & got the all clear. She said the blood supply can get strangled (or something like) so they need to be checked when they are so painful

Thank you everyone. I will ring the doctor tomorrow and see if I can get the Scheriproct.
