Looks like the inflammation stage of healing.

Obviously wounds can be infected at any point so keep an eye for the usual suspects, redness, swelling, exudate, heat

brightonchicka · 02/12/2025 00:11

@Wishiwasatailor thank you so much . No pus but red round it . Feels tender but not swollen . Just dont want to leave an infection if indeed it could be

It doesn't look infected to me.
It seems to be healing well.

brightonchicka · 02/12/2025 00:16

@TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne thanks for response . I was just worried about pain and yellowing after 11 days of relatively easy recovery

Another nurse to say it looks fine. The red area is just inflammation as part of the healing process.

brightonchicka · 02/12/2025 00:28

@AppleDumplingWithCustard thankyou so much !

Draw around the redness, if it expands outside of where you have drawn go to gp or walk in centre as may be infected. Could be normal but increasing pain is a red flag

brightonchicka · 02/12/2025 00:30

@SusanSHelit thankyou !

From second picture I’d say actually to keep an eye on it. Increased pain and redness is an indicator of infection, so take another photo tomorrow and compare.

@Isadora2007 thankyou i will do

That's great, it sounds like it's resolving.
You're right to keep an eye on it, but the body is very good at healing very mild skin infections.

brightonchicka · 02/12/2025 16:29

@TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne thankyou :)

Define looks better in latest photo! Agree though continue to keep an eye on it, but it is quite remarkable what the body can heal without jumping to antibiotics. Could well have been a mild infection
