Constant rectal pressure

I was told by GP a few weeks ago I have diverticulitis as had lower abdominal pain. He put me on a 7 day course of antibiotics (coamoxiclav). After finishing the antibiotics I had constipation so he prescribed laxido. I took 5 sachets over 3 days but the stopped as they were giving me stomach ache. Ever since stopping the laxative i have had nonstop rectal pressure and a constant urge to have a bowel movement even when there's nothing to pass. The pressure hasn't been relieved after a bowel movement. I am panicking as the rectal pressure has gone on for 5 days with no respite. It's so miserable and uncomfortable and I can't focus on anything else. Can anyone relate?

Could well be internal haemorrhoids, I get the pressure and needing to poo feeling when mine flare up but it can also be something more sinister. Have you had a rectal exam? Any bleeding? I would see your GP for a rectal exam and get some Anusol HC (the hydrocortisone takes the swelling down) and if it persists, insist on referral to Colorectal surgery for a Colonoscopy

Thanks for reply. Going to try and see doctor today as the constant pressure kept me awake all night. No blood or pain or discharge. The sensation isn't relieved by a bowel movement and is there whether I'm lying down, sitting or standing. I'm inclined to think it's not IBS as it doesn't go away after bowel movement and I don't have any stomach pain.

Tmi question, but have you looked back there? Does the area look normal?

So I saw doctor today, he did a rectal exam, thinks I'm backed up with constipation and should go back on laxido to clear myself out which should stop the rectal pressure. No haemorrhoids present. He said take 4-5 sachets a day.
