Neuroopthamology appointment

Hi all,

I had a routine eye test on Tuesday and they said there appeared to be a blurred optic nerve on the fundus photograph. They then sent me for an OCT scan which showed a tilted disc and with me being shortsighted they said the combination can make it appear as thought there is a swollen optic nerve.

A referral has gone off to hospital and I will be having an appointment with the neuroopthamology department. I have gone to pieces and terrified I'm going to be told I have a brain tumour. I spoke to the optometrist before and he said they aren't concerned but with that 1% doubt it needs to be checked. He said all images seem OK and two optometrists who dealt with me aren't worried.

I suffer from extreme health anxiety after having breast cancer 9 years ago.

Has anybody had similar and all been OK.

Please help 😭 xx

They are covering their backs. If they thought there was a reasonable chance of something sinister they would have sent you for an emergency appt. I do have a friend who had something similar come up at an eye appt and there was a minor issue she needed sorting but it wasn't a tumour of any kind. She had also feared the worst. Fingers crossed for you, hope you don't have too long to wait.
