Cut: sugar, flour,/gluten, white potatoes, white rice, lactose. No UPFs.

I was having stomach pains, also perimenopausal and having a shit time, doctors had no idea what was wrong, so I cut out this food. I also fast 2 hours between dinner and breakfast. Like a pp, if I feel bloated or have a flare up, I drink green tea and fast longer, than some homemade soup.

I feel better, sleep better, have fantastic skin, I'm hydrated, have more energy. Ditching sugar was daunting, but with ten days I could walk through the chocolate and biscuit aisles of shops without a pause - the thought of a cake... meh. I don't miss it.

I'm not sure going two hours without food is counted as a fast...

High histamine foods / sugar / any processed foods & alcohol. Was having awful reactions to foods I'd previously been able to eat. Now wish I'd given up booze earlier - I didn't even drink that much but can see now how it slowed me down.

Alcohol

schmalex · 30/11/2025 17:13

Sugar. I did the Six Pack Revolution and that has knocked my sugar cravings on the head. I did have a chai latte today and then felt terrible a couple of hours later, so will be sticking to very low sugar!

Suednymph · 30/11/2025 17:17

My mother. My stress levels have massively decreased and my blood pressure is no longer high.

Work.

Paid off mortgage so can now work only one day on top of small private pension.

Summerunlover · 30/11/2025 17:58

Diet Coke I consumed so much of it. No caffeine now either.

unsync · 30/11/2025 18:58

Alcohol and nearly 50 kgs of excess weight.

BlueOceanFish · 30/11/2025 19:00

Garrr reading this I am annoyed at myself has done really well cutting out white processed carbs but fallen of the wagon. So going to start again NOW!

For me I’ve stopped all squash and fizzy pop. Not just for me but for the whole family, it’s full of artificial sweeteners.

Trying desperately to stop alcohol. I barely drink any as it is, but I do love a drink. However, it absolutely fucks with my sleep, even one small glass. And I can’t cope with no sleep especially as my sleep is so rubbish with menopause

OttersMayHaveShifted · 30/11/2025 19:02

Gluten and most dairy, unfortunately. I'm not officially diagnosed with anything, but I am certainly gluten intolerant and can tolerate only very small quantities of dairy. I have also given up coffee, and if I eat too much chocolate it upsets my stomach. What joy Angry. On the upside, I no longer feel constantly bloated with stomach and lower back pain, so that's a plus!

Alcohol but desperate to cut out sugar and processed foods and take aways but always succumb

notacooldad · 30/11/2025 19:23

Snacks such as chocolate bars and crisps
Never drink alcohol at home. We used to but stopped.
Late nights when there's work next morning
I gave up not planning at least two weeks of meals. I eat better now I plan longer term.

Alcohol
Snacks

I haven't removed caffeine entirely but I have drastically cut it down. I only have coffee or Coke with a meal when I'm out; at home and in the office I now drink herbal tea and fruit based soft drinks.

SwordToFlamethrower · 01/12/2025 08:26

Carbs and staying up past 10pm. Life changing 🙌 it's so hard though as dh doesn't like going to bed though.

EleanorReally · 01/12/2025 08:47

cigarettes
alcohol
have less sugar
less snacks

socool · 01/12/2025 08:57

Late nights in the living room. I now do them in bed instead lol!

Alcohol completely, no exceptions. Been like that since I got a reaction to red wine during peri. Ugh never again.

Most meat, am not veggie but am more that way now than carnivore.

Sorry, but the additions have improved me more....

-Fibre every day, as in flax and chia on my porridge or weetabix.
-A fruit mush that I make and freeze once a week in daily portions for above weetabix/porridge, including avocado, rasp, strawbs, kiwi, pears. Frozen is fine and tinned pears work well in juice too.
-Improved my protein intake. Tuna, salmon, eggs as often as I can. Protein powder in Greek yogurt.

I'm still a sinner not a saint BTW, but the above have made me feel more virtuous and well.

PersephoneParlormaid · 01/12/2025 08:58

Alcohol, I sleep so much better.
I don’t stay up for company to my husband anymore, I go to bed when I want.
I spend money on good quality meat, eat lots of organic eggs.

Alcohol. If I'm honest I never really liked it, I only drank to be sociable and never at home. Since I turned 50 the smallest glass makes me feel awful- red hot, burning face, headache, sick. I ignore the people who think you can't enjoy yourself without a drink.
