Does this sound like asthma?

So I’m in my 30s now but I had asthma as a child,I don’t know why but from 13 ish I just stopped getting inhalers (assuming I grew out of it )
Anyway the last year or so I’ve been having a lot of phlegm on a night and my chest feels really tight and last night I felt like I had to take some big breaths or yawn to get air in for a while in bed.
I was coughing up phlegm for a good few hours.
Then once I got some up my chest wasn’t as tight.
This is pretty much a daily thing (not as bad as last night )
I have no allergies (that I know of )
Any Idea what’s going on ?
I mentioned this to the GP and he just said it won’t be asthma if it went as a child and told me to try mindfulness in bed.
I don’t understand tho as I’m coughing up a lot of phlegm (really thick phlegm at times )
so unsure what good mindfulness would do
He said he thought I was getting stressed over it and offered me sertraline which I declined.
Im fed up of it now

See a different GP.

You need a new GP, one with a better understanding of asthma. I was diagnosed as a child and rarely have problems but every now and then it bites me on the arse and I need inhalers.
