Know we are not alone in this but I'm gutted.

Husband, long time illness, chronic pain but no actual diagnosis has separately been found to have a growth in his bowel.

Has 2 x colonoscopy and they want to remove it surgically. They don't think, from viewing in endoscopy that it's malignant so he's been bumped to a non urgent list.

Cant help thinking they hope he'll die from sonething else first.

Sorry your dh is not well, OP. The long term chronic pain, from what I understand, is not related to the bowel issue ?
Did he get biopsies of the growth ? Did they say how big it is ? What symptoms did DH have to prompt a colonoscopy ?
It is reassuring that it’s not malignant if that is the result of any biopsies, so why are you “ gutted”?

They have to prioritise urgent cases like cancer.
I say all this on the understanding that your dh’s pain is not related to the bowel growth.

As PP has said above, did they get biopsies during the colonoscopies? Generally these are taken at the time to determine whether they are malignant or benign but often malignant tumours are obvious in appearance.

If it has been biopsied and is benign then it is will be done as a lower priority than someone who has a cancer diagnosis. They definitely won't be thinking that they want him to die from something else, but they can't let a known cancer patient's surgery be delayed for someone who's is benign as they could die as a result. Very difficult though when you're the one waiting, I do understand that.
