I chipped my lower molar the other month I had constant tooth ache nearly every day for 6 weeks I finally seen the dentist who said it was infected there wasn’t and still isnt no sign of abscess on the gum. I’m not a professional but it doesn’t look like anything is wrong other than the chipped tooth an X-ray wasn’t done to confirm infection in till I was just leaving so I’m not sure what they seen in my mouth that I can’t. When I seen the dentist I was given antibiotics Monday night and booked for removal, I haven’t had constant tooth ache since Tuesday but since the dentist was poking around in there I immediately got pain in the tooth and gum and since then I have a very sensitive tooth it gets intense shocks in the tooth when anything hot or cold touches it even the cold air outside triggers it. If I touch it while brushing again the same intense pain the pain only last no more than a few seconds to minutes but it is intense. I am wondering how will I know if the infection has cleared because nothing has ever been visible on the gum for me to track/monitor, or if these random intense pains mean I need to go back sooner. I have been getting mild pain in my jaw since the day I was seen that has reduced but still only slightly painful with some movements and the odd little twinges, Any advice would be appreciated thank you.
