That was after 24 hours worth of antibiotics. Hard to see the blistering and greenish colour in the pic though. I'd definitely have her seen today. Poor wee pet.

charliecat · 23/01/2005 11:28

doctors on phone said put her arm up in a sling, give her nurafen and if im not happy take her in. As we are all still in jimjams I am going with first opton and will reassess when we are dressed!! Ta!

Good luck CC - let us know how you get on.

Jimjams · 23/01/2005 11:45

hope they reassure you
Someone in the telegraph i think wrote an article about this when it happened to her son.... aero did you have the link?

sparklymieow · 23/01/2005 12:09

this also happened to DD1 read it here

Aero · 23/01/2005 12:34

Was this the one you meant Jimjams?

Jimjams · 23/01/2005 12:35

that's the one aero- thanks!

happymerryberries · 23/01/2005 12:41

ds has a localised hard lump. anout 1.5 inch diameter where he had the jab. He had no other problems and it went with time. Aero, sounds very like an infection. Hope all is ok now

charliecat · 23/01/2005 12:46

heres dds arm and dds other arm the pen mark is so large I cant get it all in the piccy. It is redder in RL the whole area is stiff and boiling.

Jimjams · 23/01/2005 12:48

definitely get it seen in case she needs antib's. poor dd.

happymerryberries · 23/01/2005 13:11

That isn't like ds's at all, his was much more localised. Agree with Jimjams, see a doc....not wishing to alarm you but asap imo.

sparklymieow · 23/01/2005 15:14

thats what Dd1's looked like too, it was very hard and hot too, it did go down after afew days

Aero · 23/01/2005 16:13

Good gracious CC - that's a corker. Most definitely see a GP asap - makes dd's look tiny (and it wasn't). Is it weepy/blistered at all?

charliecat · 23/01/2005 17:00

It has a wee bit of orange(!) gunk leaking from it. Took her to the OOH doctors where receptionist who couldnt see her arm but could see her playing happily with her sister thought we were a waste of time and said as much to the doctor when he asked who was next...anyway...she has peniccilin to take 4x a day and he didnt think it would go away without it. It has grew redder and fiercer and bigger than my pen mark in the last few hours so im pleased I went to the docs. Thanks folks.
BTW Aero if it wasnt for seeing your piccy I would have ummed and ahhed till (when its really quite vicious) so Thanks!

No trouble at all CC - glad you've got the antibiotics - will probably take a day or two to take effect, and it will probably still be red in a couple of weeks if dd's was anything to go by, but will go away eventually. Glad the pic was helpful. I was really alarmed at how quickly it grew! Your dd's is massive! Hope it at least feels better soon and not too long before it looks better too.

Aero · 23/01/2005 18:25

ps Cheeky receptionist!! Grrrrr! Very annoying and how rude of her to comment!

charliecat · 24/01/2005 17:58

Strange goings on here, the redness and swelling ness is now leaving the top part of her arm and going to the underside of it??!!

OP posts:
pixiefish · 24/01/2005 18:01

I had the meningitis jab a few years ago and also the pneumonia one- both at separate sites on separate limbs and both limbs swelled to double nearly and were red. They went down after a week or so.

charliecat · 24/01/2005 18:07

and reaching her elbow now...
