Found out today I have chylamydia following being in the hospital due to marina coil infection

Partner is being very quiet with me about it as he has only had 1 partner before me
doctor forgot to tell me that I had it only I called today to see could they change my antibiotics, is it possible this is lying dormant for a year before we were together?
please does anyone have any advice what to do here thank you.

Yes it can lie dormant for years. My infection did. It can be non-symptomatic.

I feel like my heart is broken just I feel dirty and ashamed, I keep thinking if it’s affected my fertility and now I feel like my relationship is ruined- thank you so much for replying to my post

Im not a doctor but even if lying dormant as in he has no symptoms surely as its so contagious you would have probably caught it by now if you’ve been together for a year?
however it seems it is possible- i would alsways get tested at start of a new relationship if you have had unprotected sex it’s best for both partners i think

We have been together since March, I am so worried I am infertile now- I do have it but he doesn’t know if he has it yet, just feel like screaming

Mine didn't progress to PID so my fertility wasn't affected.

It’s never “dormant” it’s just usually unsymptomatic. It could have come from either one of you, so don’t feel “dirty”. Either way you both need treatment. If you’re having unprotected sex, he shouldn’t wait for results to get treated.

Re the fertility question, it takes years for an undetected infection to cause scaring to the fallopian tubes.
