As suggested in title, I started on HRT 2 months ago. My vagina is constantly sore and burning. I'm using pessaries, inserted twice weekly, nothing works. I am scratching it during the night and then it's bleeding this as a result...is this normal in perimenopause? It's driving me crazy

in case this helps. My menopause started about 3 years ago and was managed quite at first with Oestrogel and a Mirena. About a year ago I got the symptoms you prescribed so was prescribed the twice weekly pessaries, same as you and estriol cream for external dryness and soreness.
worked for a while and then I reacted really badly to the cream, skin was splitting, swollen and itchy, just horrid and sore . I felt at my wits end.
I saw a fantastic private consultant who switched me to Blissel gel twice weekly and prescribed Yes VM external moisturiser for daily use . My GP now prescribes these . Fingers crossed

Sorry half my message chopped off. My Oestrogel was increased to 4 x pumps daily . All in all its settled well .
Look up the fabulous pharmacist and Dr Kelly Casperson on instagram , both really knowledgable.
Speak to your GP , don’t suffer in silence, it’s a horrible thing to be so sore like you describe .
