DD has just started university, got freshers flu as standard but after getting over that is still struggling, particularly to sleep. She can’t get to sleep until the early hours even when she goes to bed early and then is struggling to feel well in the morning and has missed lectures. Before she went to uni she wasn’t feeling great either (headaches etc) so had blood tests that found low folate - she’s midway through a 4 month course of folic acid and it has been helping the headaches until this week. She’s also taking a women’s multivitamin. I’ve now heard that taking folic acid can affect sleep - anyone had this and can give us some advice on how to counteract it? She’s obviously trying all the usual stuff to get to sleep.

It’s not that she’s not enjoying uni - she likes her course and her flatmates and has settled well. She’s got a docs appointment in a week or so for the other stuff but it’s mainly the sleep that’s making her feel awful. Any advice would be much appreciated!

I’d start magnesium glycinate then look at her environment. Is she getting disturbed by other flat mates? Is she using screens before bed? What time did she go to sleep before she left? Anxiety is a bugger for disturbing sleep.

Thanks. She does have a history of some anxiety. Will do that.
